Seagate Wraps Portable SSDs in Fabric at IFA

IFA 2019 has Seagate launch the One Touch SSD and One Touch SSD Special Edition, portable SSDs wrapped in fabric with a "cosy, textured feel" in either black or white or, in case of the Special Edition, camo patterns.

Roku TV Arrives in Europe

IFA 2019 sees Roku bring its self-titled TV operating system to Europe, starting with the UK as Hisense announces the Q4 2019 launch of TV models sets running on the software.

Roku IFA 2019The Hisense Roku TV for the European market is a 65-inch model featuring 4K UHD resolution and HDR capability combined with the easy-to-use Roku OS complete with "thousands" of streaming channels. Roku TVs strip down the menus of smart TVs with a simple home screen showcasing all available content, including live programming, streaming movies or music, in one place. Control takes place using either simple TV remote or Roku mobile app.

Sony Launches Xperia 5 at IFA 2019

Sony skips a few generations at IFA 2019 as it announces the Xperia 5-- a followup to the flagship Xperia 1 featuring a display in the same 21:9 aspect ratio, if within a "relatively compact" body.

Sony Xperia 5The Xperia 5 was teased to be small enough to fit "in the palm of your hand," and as such is smaller handset compared to other flagship smartphones. It features a 6.1-inch 2560 x 1080 resolution "CinemaWide" AMOLED display complete with HDR and the upscaling of standard dynamic range content, and includes Dolby Atmos support via stereo speakers.

Garmin Puts AMOLED in Venu Smartwatch

Garmin launches a first smartwatch featuring an AMOLED touchscreen at IFA 2019-- the Venu, a device offering many of the mainstays of Garmin wearables, such as GPS capability and a range of 24/7 health monitoring features.

The Venu has a 1.2-inch 390 x 390 resolution round OLED display users can set to an always-on mode. It comes in a 43mm form factor designed to be worn 24/7, and promises a 5-day battery life. The OS combines the touchscreen with a pair of physical buttons buttons set at 2 and 4  o'clock, and can display notifications for incoming calls, messages, social media updates and calendar reminders from a paired mobile device.
