Home security brand SimpliSafe makes a first step in the European market as it launches in the UK with a choice of pre-configured sensor, camera, keypad and siren bundles.

SimplisafeThe move follows a $1 billion investment in the Boston-based security vendor from private equity Hellman & Friedman. The company offers 5 pre-configured bundles ranging from The Starter (includes a base station, keypad, entry sensor, motion sensor and SimpliCam security cam) to the high-est end offering, The Bamburgh (includes extra key fobs, sensors, 105dB siren and a panic button).

Samsung Faces Lowest Quarterly Results Yet

Samsung is heading towards the lowest quarterly profit in over 2 years, as drops in memory prices and display panel sales, not to mention smartphone woes, lead to operating profits sliding by -60% Y-o-Y in Q1 2019.

Samsung resultsThe S. Korean giant predicts Q1 2019 revenues will reach 51-53 trillion Korean won ($44.87-$46.63 billion), a drop of around -15% Y-o-Y. In turn, profit is forecast to reach around 6.2tr won ($5.5bn), missing analyst estimates of 6.8tr won. The company had already warned of disappointing results for the quarter, the result of falling memory prices and slowing demand for display panels.

Amazon Plans AirPods Rival?

According to Bloomberg, Amazon is planning to offer the Alexa virtual assistant in wearable form-- specifically through Apple AirPods-style wireless earbuds set for launch as early as H2 2018.

smart earbudsCiting unnamed "people with knowledge of the plans," Bloomberg says the earbuds "look and act similar to AirPods," being designed to sit in the ear without need for clips, but promise superior audio quality. As one  might imagine, the earbuds will be able to do anything Alexa can, meaning users can order goods, access music, weather and other information through voice commands.
