Consumer Turing With GeForce GTX 1650

Nvidia presents a more mainstream-friendly Turing-powered GPU-- the GeForce GTX 1650, a card bringing the latest in Nvidia architecture featuring what the company calls a "TU117" chip.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650The GTX 1650 is a successor to the Pascal-based GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti from 2016. As such, it runs on a variant of the TU11x series GPU one can assume is both cheaper and easier to produce, while still being based on Turing architecture. The TU117 die offers base and boost speeds reaching 1485 and 1685MHz respectively, carries 896 CUDA cores and includes 4GB GDDR5 RAM operating at 8Gbps and 128GB/s bandwidth.

Acer Slides Out the Gaming Laptop Keyboard

Gaming laptop design is in good part about efficient thermal management, and Acer claims to have an appropriate solution in the Predator Helios 700-- a keyboard users can slide out to expose two air intakes.

Predator Helios 700Acer calls it the keyboard "HyperDrift," and says the mechanism allows for improved cooling and performance. The keyboard slides towards the user, making for an admittedly bulky device, even if it adds an ergonomic wrist rest. Furthermore, the keyboard includes MagForce switches on the WASD keys for "analog-like" control, as well as per-key RGB lighting and a Turbo hotkey to overclock the CPU.

Puma Beta Tests Self-Lacing Sneakers

It is truly the dream of the future, at least according to Back to the Future-- self-lacing sneakers. Now Puma is taking on the idea with the Fi, a self-lacing shoe the company will soon offer on a beta basis.

Puma FiThe Fi is not the first self-lacing show from Puma. Back in 2015 the German shoe maker launched Autodisc, a bright yellow sneaker with built-in motors able to loosen or tighten internal laces wrapped around the front of the foot. The Autodisc sneaker was aimed at athletes, but was too heavy and not comfortable enough to enter regular retail.

HP Presents 15-inch Chromebook

HP announces a first 15-inch Chrome OS notebook-- the simply named Chromebook 15, a device featuring a full-size keyboard complete with number pad, as well as an IPS touchscreen and 64GB of storage.

HP Chromebook 1The display inside the device is technically 15.6-inch, and offers 1920 x 1080 resolution. The aforementioned keyboard features backlit keys, while inside the laptop are an Intel Pentium Gold 4417U CPU, integrated Intel HD Graphics 610, 4GB DDR4 SDRAM and 64GB eMMC storage. Connectivity comes through x2 USB-C ports, x1 USB 3.1 port and a microSD card reader.
