Acer aims at both professional and amateur creators with the announcement of ConceptD-- a portfolio of premium desktops, notebooks and a mixed reality headset promising "timeless design language" and "extremely" colour-accurate displays.

Oppo Intros Reno Flagship

The next flagship device from Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is the Reno, launched in a choice of 3 versions-- Standard, 10x Zoom and, teased for an upcoming launch event in Zurich, a 5G version.

Oppo RenoThe Reno is perhaps most notable for the pop-up selfie camera, housed together with a soft light flash in a wedge-shaped panel. The design allows for a notch-free display, even if the camera lacks a 3D Face ID-style mechanism. Instead, an in-display fingerprint scanner handles security duties. As for selfie camera specs, it carries a 16MP sensor and an f/2.0 lens, and Oppo claims the motorised mechanism lasts up to 5 years even if one flips it up and down 100 times a day.

Gartner: Flat Device Shipments for 2019

According to Gartner, global device shipments-- bringing together PCs, tablets and mobile phones-- are to total 2.21 billion in 2019 with essentially flat growth over 2018, as PCs remain on a downward trend while mobile phones are set to return to growth in 2020.

"For the eighth consecutive year, the PC market is at a standstill," the analyst says. “PC shipments will total 258 million units in 2019, a -0.6% decline from 2018. Traditional PCs are set to decline -3% in 2019 to total 189m units."

Gartner market stats

Consumers are increasingly retiring PCs but not purchasing replacements, leading to shipments dropping by another 2.5m units in 2019. On the business side, Windows 10 migration continues into the next phase as Windows 7 support is scheduled to end in January 2020. As a result, Gartner predicts Windows 10 will make 75% of the professional PC market by 2021.
