Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) announces wireless audio rival to the likes of Sonos-- Formation, a range including a soundbar, two bookshelf speakers, a single speaker, standalone subwoofer and an accessory adding wireless capability to legacy devices.

BW FormationAll components work either separately or in tandem to provide multi-room audio, and promise "high-fidelity performance" with 24-bit/96kHz audio support. The speakers connect with each other using a mesh networking system co-developed by B&W parent company EVA Automation, and the company says it ensures speaker synchronisation clocks at 1 microsecond.

A Google Assistant-Enabled In-Car Charger

Sony Teases PlayStation 5 Details

As the 8th console generation winds to an inevitable close, console makers start teasing their upcoming machines-- and Sony gets the ball rolling as PlayStation architect Mark Cerny spills at least some details to Wired.

Playstation Reportedly 4 years in the making, the fifth PlayStation promises to be "no mere upgrade." Cerny refers to the machine as the "next-gen console," and admits it won't hit the market any time before 2020. AMD is taking care of hardware duties, offering a 3rd gen Ryzen processor based on 7nm Zen 2 architecture and a custom Navi-based GPU Cerny claims is capable of ray tracing. A sophisticated light simulation technology, ray tracing is currently supported by high-end processors and the Nvidia RTX GPU line.

Apple and Qualcomm Kiss and Make Up

The legal battle over patent licensing going on between Apple and Qualcomm since January 2017 comes to a close, as the two companies drop all litigation in favour of a 6-year license agreement and a "multi-year" supply of wireless chips.

QualcommThe two companies do not reveal what brought the sudden end to the bitter feud, especially since yet another round of court litigation had just started earlier this week. It is probable both Apple and Qualcomm simply tired of spending on corporate and legal maneuvering, as until now neither of the two budged on their position on iPhone patent royalties.

Panasonic Goes Transparent in Milan

Panasonic joins Swiss furniture brand Vitra at the Salone del Mobile furniture lifestyle exhibition to reveal a transparent OLED concept display designed to look like a glass cabinet.

Panasonic transparent tvThe transparent OLED display consists of a wooden frame holding what appears to be a pane of glass. However, once the device is turned on, it transforms into an OLED display. Designed by Scandinavian based designer Daniel Rybakken and Panasonic Design Kyoto, the display features materials such as wood, metal and glass, with the wooden frame hiding all electronic components and housing a lighting element.
