Sony Further Teases PlayStation 5

Sony continues to slowly but surely ramp up the hype for the fifth PlayStation console as it announces the next-generation console, sensibly named the PlayStation 5, is set to launch in time for the 2020 holiday season.

The announcement comes as the company gives Wired a sneak peak of the machine. As previously confirmed, the PS5 is based on AMD technology, with a Ryzen-based CPU and Navi GPU. Details on the capabilities of the hardware are scant, but system architect Mark Cerny does confirm it features ray-tracing acceleration, allowing it to push some truly sophisticated lighting simulation.

Sennheiser claims the GSP 370 wireless gaming headset is the first to feature 100 hours of battery life, the result of both low power consumption and, of course, a long-lasting battery.

In fact, the company says a customer using the headset for 6 hours per week only needs to charge the GSP 370 once every 4 months, and since it can be used while recharging no gaming time gets interrupted. The headset is PC, Macs and PS4 compatible, and promises audio with near-zero delay as well as Sennheiser audio quality. The microphone features noise canceling, and users can mute it by simply lifting the boom arm.

The Microsoft Surface hardware event has something of a surprise offering-- the Surface Duo, a foldable dual-screen device running on Android the company insists is not, in fact, a phone.

The Surface Duo is just one foldable device from Microsoft, with the other being the Surface Neo, a tablet-size number running on an "expression" of Windows 10 dubbed Windows 10X. However the Surface Duo is arguably the more interesting of the two, what with it being smaller and featuring Android as OS, surprising considering it comes from the company behind, well, Windows.

Microsoft Refreshes Surface Lineup

Microsoft presents what it claims is "the broadest Surface lineup ever"-- one featuring revamped laptop and tablet offerings, as well as accessories and a dual-screen tablet, the Surface Neo.

Surface refreshAvailable in 13.5- and 15-inch options with new colours and finishes, the Surface Laptop 3 ships with either a 10th gen Intel Core processor or, in case of the 15-inch model, the AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processor. The result of a co-engineering effort between Microsoft and AMD, the processor promises the "fastest graphics performance" of any 15-inch laptop.

In further details, the Surface Laptop 3 features a full-size keyboard with 1.33mm key travel with the choice of either Alcantara fabric or an aluminium all-metal finish. The trackpad is 20% larger, while connectivity comes through both USB-A and USB-C ports. Microsoft says conferencing is also catered for, since the laptop features improved front-facing cameras, OmniSonic speakers and dual far-field studio microphones.
