OnePlus 7T Gets OnePlus 7T Pro Update

OnePlus follows on the flagship OnePlus 7T with the 7T Pro-- an update featuring a mobile chip upgrade in the shape of the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, as well as a "30T" Warp Charge power adapter.

As one might expect, the 7T Pro is fairly similar to the previous model. It retains the same 6.7-inch 1440 x 3120 resolution OLED display complete with 90Hz refresh rate, as well as the rear-facing 48MP triple-camera array and pop-up front facing 16MP shooter. OnePlus says the camera did receive a number of software improvements, such as a macro mode allowing users take photos of small object from as little as 2.5cm away.

Wireless Charging Via Nomad Base Station Pro

Nomad follows a number of other companies to fill the void following the failure of the Apple AirPower wireless charger with the Base Station Pro, a device able to simultaneously charge three different devices.

Nomad Base ProThe AirPower failed to make to the market after Apple admitted it could manage to achieve its typical "high standards" for the project. Nomad says this is not the case with the Base Station Pro, since it also charge devices without need for exact placement on the pad. To do so it uses an 18-coil matrix and Aira FreePower wireless charging technology to create a single large wireless charging surface with algorithms able to figure out where the devices being charged are.

IDC: 2019 Consumer Technology Spending Reaches $1.96 Trillion

According to IDC, global consumer spending on technology is to reach $1.69 trillion in 2019, a 5.3% increase over 2018 brought about by strong purchases of both traditional and emerging technologies.

In fact, the analyst predicts spending will reach $2.06 trillion in 2023, with a 5-year CAGR for the 2019-2023 period of 5.1%. W. Europe is the 3rd largest geographic market in 2019 at $227 billion, following the US ($412bn) and China ($328bn). Mobile telecom services and mobile phones are the two largest categories in all three regions.

IDC consumer spending

Traditional technologies account for around 75% of global 2019 consumer technology spending. Mobile telecom services (voice and data) make over 50% of the total throughout the forecast, followed by mobile phones and personal computing devices. Spending growth for traditional devices is relatively slow, with a CAGR of 2.2% over the 2019-2023 period.

Bose Recalls Sleepbuds Earbuds

A battery issue leads to Bose ordering a recall of the Sleepbuds, a pair of wireless earbuds designed to help customers sleep by drowning ambient noise with soothing audio tracks.

The recall comes after users reported the earbuds are not charging fully, powering down unexpectedly, or both. Bose says it read all manner of complaints, received faulty units and sent replacements, but despite research and firmware updates the failures not only continued, they apparently got even worse. In fact, they got so bad Bose is discontinuing the Sleepbuds and will take the project back to the drawing board.

AMD powers MSI Alpha 15 Gaming Laptop

MSI follows on the launch of the AMD Radeon RX 5500M GPU with a laptop featuring such mobile gaming hardware-- the Alpha 15, a 15.6-inch laptop also featuring Radeon 7 3750H APU and a 144Hz 1080p IPS Radeon FreeSync display.

According to MSI, the addition of the Radeon RX 5500M allows for "triple-digit" framerates, as well as enhanced game visuals through FidelityFX technology. Further boosting performance is Cooler Boost 5, a 7-heatpipe cooling module designed to take advantage of the hardware, as well as the addition of either 8 or 16GB of RAM. Storage comes through x1 M.2 SSD and x1 2.5-inch SATA HDD.
