The Element is a mechanical gaming keyboard with a twist on the RGB lighting typical of such devices-- the backlighting is, according to maker Whirlwind FX, "content-reactive," and can mirror the on-screen action.

The company says the effect comes thanks to a software engine that "detects and recognizes events and critical utility moments-- explosions, varied environments, damage taken, health levels, healing, shields-- producing synchronized LED patterns, bursts of colour and particle systems to heighten immersion." Also included is a "constantly-expanding" library of extensions for individual games allowing for such effects.

According to the company, the DualSense keeps what gamers love about the DualShock 4 while adding more functionality. For instance, the controller includes haptic feedback, allowing users to feel sensations such as "the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud." Meanwhile the L2 and R2 triggers are adaptive, meaning the trigger mechanism has some measure of pressure sensitivity. The addition of such haptics necessitated a change in the angle of the triggers, as well as "subtle" updates to the grips.

PDFPrintE-mail

According to GfK, British TV sales on 15-21 March-- the week Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered a lockdown of the country due to the coronavirus-- are up by 59.5% in volume and 43.3% in value compared to the same week last year.

UK TV salesThe numbers cover the UK, but one can imagine the situation to be at least somewhat similar throughout Europe.

The jump is highest among the smaller screen sizes, 42-inch or less, leading to overall purchases having the lowest average price point seen in the year. The analyst suggests customers are buying basic models for practical solutions, rather than splashing out to enhance the viewing experience with a better model. Either way, people face having the entire household at home every day, possibly with the need to keep distance from each other, and as such are buying an extra TV to spread around the house.
