World's First Hi-Bright Projector with No Mercury
A new light source, LED or Laser without mercury will be the next gen of projectors, says developer and projector maker Casio.
At ISE 2010, Casio showed their Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source (red by red LED, blue by blue laser and green converted by phosphor from a blue laser) in their Green Slim Projector range.
We're talking 20,000 hours without a lamp change and Casio promise to "aggressively" develop Green Slim consumer models from now on.
The new semiconductor light-source technology developed by Casio combines LEDs and laser light to create a completely new, mercury-free light source. The new generation of projectors with laser and LED-hybrid light sources has an illuminative performance of up to 2500 ANSI lumens, creating presentations even in daylight.
This new light source with a 20,000-hour life expectancy be switched on and off without any significant delays – full power, says Casio, is available after only 8 seconds.

We’re All Wrong About iPad
No one and no product could have lived up to the hype that preceded the Apple iPad launch. Not even Steve Jobs who cranked up the hype machine in the first place.
Steve Jobs stood there on stage, iPad in hand like Moses with The Tablet, and a list of his own Commandments: Thou shall create a product category between smartphones and netbooks. Thou shall not have strange devices before you. Thou shall not covet thy neighbour’s goods...Page 926 of 993
